About Us

A letter from Steve and Christine Albanese

Legacy Life Center was founded by the Albanese family with the goal of providing a sanctuary for other families to spend time together and individually getting fit and having fun.

This effort began when our son, Chris, was only 11 years old and fell in love with Martial Arts. We went to classes together as a family and Chris was hooked! Chris has been studying Martial Arts ever since and has become skilled in the Wushu, Taekwon-Do and Cardio Kickboxing techniques.

Our daughter Jessica Koonts studied Early Childhood Education Administration at Ashford University where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree and also received an Associates Degree in Fine Arts at Brookdale Community College. Jessica worked and taught in a Daycare for 5 years with children ages 6 weeks old to 5 years old.

Our other daughter, Ashley Albanese, studied massage therapy and graduated in October 2015. We look forward to her joining us at Legacy Life Center to offer her skills to our clients and help round out the Legacy Life Center experience.

Our children’s growth and success has set our family on the path to create a family center where young children, older children and adults of all ages can find life enhancement programs that fit their lifestyle’s needs. Along with the Martial Arts and Play Gym programs, we will offer everything from Massage Therapy to Yoga and Pilates classes so while your child is getting fit and learning discipline in their Martial Arts class, you can do the same in your Yoga class or simply get refreshed and recharged with a soothing massage!

We look forward to seeing you at Legacy Life Center soon!

Jessica Koonts

Owner / Play Gym Program Executive Director / Lead Instructor

Jessica is an experienced Childcare professional with strong leadership and relationship-building skills. Aside from being the proud mother of her toddler, Jessica has worked extensively with children for most of her professional career.

As a mother of a young child, Jessica understands the challenges and joys of parenthood, and the importance of fostering a love of healthy activity in an age of video gaming addiction. She knows that organized, age appropriate activity that allows for the building of social skills is paramount to a child’s cognitive, social and motor development.

Jessica studied Architecture starting in 8th grade, throughout High school and even graduated High School a semester early to start college and begin working in the field as an intern. As an intern at her third firm, Jessica discovered that the Architecture field was not a lifetime career for her. Three and a half years of college and five credits short of her Associates Degree, she shifted gears to Art to complete a degree in Fine Arts. That last semester Jessica began to work in Daycare and fell in love with the job so much that she could see herself working with children as a career. She ended up starting a family and staying home, while attending school to gain a Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education Administration degree from Ashford University.

Guro Errol Ballesteros

Instructor - Filipino Martial Arts

Guro Errol Ballesteros was born in the Philippines and came to America at the young age of 3. Growing up in the 70’s and 80’s was a challenge for a young boy from the Philippines. Guro thought that he had to go to a Martial Arts school to learn Martial Arts but it was his father, who taught him how to fight and stand up for himself.

At a young age, Guro’s father taught him a fighting art without him even knowing that he was being trained. It was all backyard training for Guro and his friends, introducing them to the art of fighting with weapons so they could protect themselves from the tough neighborhood they grew up in.

In 2000, Guro’s wife introduced him to who would become his Chief Instructor, Maestro Richie Acosta and Maestro Rico Acosta of Kuntaw Kali Kruzada. This is when Guro learned a structured Filipino Martial Arts system known as, Kuntaw Kali Kruzada.

Guro currently teaches the Kruzada system along with what he learned from his experiences growing up. The Filipino Martial Arts is a complete art. Guro teaches stick fighting, edge weapon, empty hand/grappling, mano y mano, and mass attack situations.
